Public-sector operational reporting

In a public-sector consulting engagement, I developed operational Power BI reporting backed by Databricks SQL. The reporting combined a historical import model with a separate DirectQuery view for a recent time window. This approach let users analyze longer-term patterns while also checking recent activity.

Model and measures

The historical view covered records from 2011 onward, while the recent view focused on roughly the last two weeks. Date selection supported common periods such as month-to-date, quarter-to-date and year-to-date. Core measures counted vehicles, occupants and vehicles left behind; each measure needed clear definitions and validation against its source.

Delivery

I developed user documentation and a technical guide alongside the reports. The work involved SQL, Power BI model design, DAX, refresh planning and stakeholder review. This case study describes methods without publishing client data or internal dashboards.
